Shaw's Fish House
About This Spot
Nestled just off the quiet stretch of Highway 53 in Perkinston, Shaw's Fish House greets visitors like a familiar neighbor’s kitchen—welcoming, unpretentious, and steeped in the rhythms of slow, Southern hospitality. The moment you step inside, the hum of easy conversation and the warm, earthy scent of frying catfish sets a comforting tone. It feels like one of those treasured local spots where time slows enough to savor the details, from the rustic wooden booths to the friendly nods exchanged across the room.
This is a place where the pace matches the steady pull of the bayou—calm, familiar, and genuine. Arriving early is part of the ritual here, especially on busy days when tables fill with families and regulars settling in for a meal that feels like an honest reflection of the region.
The menu doesn’t overwhelm with options, but what’s offered carries a quiet confidence. The catfish—whether whole on the bone or tender fillets—arrives with a delicate batter that respects the fish’s fresh flavor without overshadowing it. These meals are often paired with hush puppies that strike the perfect balance between crisp and fluffy, alongside sides like coleslaw that carry their own homey charm without fuss. It’s the kind of food that lingers like a gentle memory, inviting a second helping or a leisurely conversation.
Shaw’s Fish House is less about grand gestures and more about the understated pleasure of a good meal shared in good company. It’s where simple, well-crafted dishes come with the warmth of a family-owned kitchen, making every visit feel like stepping into a space where neighbors meet, stories are swapped, and the local flavors of Mississippi come quietly to life.

My husband and I shared the seafood platter. It was very good. The coleslaw is excellent and the stuffed crab was tasty.

OK, so this restaurant is off the beaten path and if you’re traveling too fast on Highway 53 you might miss it….. but don’t pass up this quaint country restaurant. It is definitely worth stopping. They have a limited menu, but the food is excellent! The catfish had the perfect batter just enough to complement the fresh catfish! The hush puppies were light and fluffy. Potato wedges were not overcooked, and the coleslaw was very creamy over all the meal was excellent.! The service is on point very friendly atmosphere . I would recommend this restaurant for the young the old and the in-between .

This a very nice and family owned restaurant. The catfish is very delicious. You can get either whole catfish or just fillets. Lots of sides to choose from. Get there early, it does get crowded. Highly recommended.

The catfish was good, but nothing special and the French fries were warm but not hot. My wife said her chicken tenders were very good and my son also said that his hamburger was quite good. Overall it was a good experience but I really don't see what people rave about.
